- The VA reviews your medical records from your military service and from the VA and takes into account statements from family members and military members you served with.

- Disabled military Vets (DAV) is a great organization to start with who can help you with your claim for free.
- VA claims insider is a service that can help you with increasing a claim or refiling a denied claim for a fee. This organization knows the ins and outs of the VA and can help you with buddy letters, Nexus letters, secondary claims and more. (VA Claims Insider, 2022)
- Many veterans who have disabilities are unable to work full time, which affects the amount of money you can use of things like rent, groceries and car payments.
- The Disabled Veterans National foundation states that Veterans with disabilities are more likely to have financial hardships or become homeless, a recent survey showed that approximately 53% of homeless veterans are disabled. (n.d) VA disability payments can help make ends meet and help prevent homelessness.
